Ramuna

Privacy Policy

Last updated 27 August 2026

Ramuna is a hair care app. This page explains what it collects, why, and what happens to it. It is written to be read, not to be impenetrable.

The short version. Ramuna collects what it needs to build you a routine and track whether it is working. There is no advertising SDK, no analytics SDK and no tracking of you across other apps. We do not sell your data. Your progress photos are private to you and you can delete them at any time.

Who we are

Ramuna (“we”, “us”) provides the Ramuna mobile app. If you have a question about anything here, email hello@ramuna.app.

Your account

You can use Ramuna without making an account. When you first open the app it creates an anonymous account so your routine, photos and history survive a reinstall — that account is not linked to you personally.

You can optionally add an email address and password so you can get your data back on a new phone. If you do, we store your email address. We use it to sign you in and, if you ask, to reset your password. We do not email you marketing.

We do not collect your name, address, phone number, date of birth or payment details. The app does not ask for them and has nowhere to put them.

What we collect

WhatWhy
Email address, if you choose to make an account To sign you in and let you recover your data on a new device. Optional.
Hair profile — type, porosity, density, length, texture, goal To build and adapt your routine. This is the core of the app.
Routine activity — what you completed, skipped, and when To adjust how much the app asks of you, and to show your progress.
Check-in answers — how your hair and scalp feel To change what the app recommends next.
Products on your shelf, and roughly how much is left in each So the routine names what you actually own rather than telling you to buy something, and so it can tell you when a bottle is running low. The amount left is your own estimate, adjusted as you complete steps. It stays in your account.
Measurements you record To show change over time.
Progress photos you choose to take See the section below. Optional — the app works without them.
Messages you send in the app’s chat To answer you, and to log things you tell it — for example that you have run out of a product. See below for where they go.
Chat usage counts — how many messages and how large, per day To keep the service running and stop it being abused. This records amounts, never the content of what you wrote.
Subscription status To unlock paid features. Handled by Apple; we never see your card.

Photos

Ramuna uses your camera for two optional things: identifying a product from its bottle, and recording progress photos. Both can be skipped and the app works without camera access.

Product photos

When you photograph a product to add it to your shelf, the image is sent to be identified. Once identified, the image is discarded — it is not stored on our servers or on your phone. We keep the product name, not the picture.

Progress photos

Progress photos are stored in your Ramuna account so that you do not lose them if you change phone. They are visible only to you. They are never shown to anyone else, never used to train any model, and never used in marketing. When you delete a photo it is removed from our systems, not just hidden from your view.

You can delete any photo from within the app at any time. Deleting it removes it from our systems as well, not just from your view.

The in-app chat

When you message Poof, what you write is sent to our chat provider to generate a reply. We do not store the content of your messages on our servers. The conversation is kept on your phone, and inside your own backup if you have made an account. Your messages are not used to train any model.

Requests include the relevant part of your hair profile so the answer is actually useful — your routine and recent activity, not your email address.

Health information

Some of what you tell Ramuna — scalp condition, shedding, hair loss — is health-adjacent. We treat it with the same care as anything else here: it is used to adapt your routine and for nothing else. It is never shared with advertisers, insurers, or data brokers, and it is not used to build a profile of you for any purpose other than running the app.

Ramuna is not a medical service. It does not diagnose anything. Where something looks medical rather than cosmetic, the app tells you to see a doctor or trichologist rather than offering you a product.

Who we share it with

We use a small number of service providers to run the app. They process data on our instructions and cannot use it for their own purposes.

What Ramuna deliberately does not do

Where it is stored, and for how long

Your account, your app data and your photos are stored on servers in the United Kingdom (London). Chat and product-identification requests are processed in the United States and are not stored there.

We keep your data while your account exists. If you delete your data in the app, it is deleted straight away — not queued for later. If you ask us by email instead, we will action it within 30 days. We keep records of transactions where the law requires it.

Your rights

Wherever you are, you can ask us to show you what we hold, correct it, or delete it. Email hello@ramuna.app and we will action it within 30 days.

If you are in the UK or EU, you have rights under UK GDPR and GDPR including access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability and objection. Our lawful basis for processing is performance of a contract — running the app you signed up to.

If you are in California, you have rights under the CCPA including the right to know, to delete, and to opt out of sale or sharing. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined, so there is nothing to opt out of — but the right to know and to delete apply and you can exercise them at the address above.

Children

Ramuna is not intended for children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect data from them. If you believe a child has provided us with data, email us and we will remove it.

Changes

If we change this policy in a way that materially affects you, we will tell you in the app before the change takes effect. The date at the top always reflects the current version.
